Born in Detroit, lives in LA.
I have a degree in art and biology. I learned psychology of food while
creating props and special effects for television commercials. There is
something to emotional eating, but it is highly over rated, while the
chemistry of food has been skimmed over. When you get what you
need, you don't overeat, and your emotions level off. Although it is well
documented that refined sugar stimulates the same parts of the brain
that cocaine and nicotine do, food addictions have been called a joke
by dietitians. Also ignored is the gap between content and what you
can absorb from it. Nature is not logical. "You are what you eat"
doesn't mean that just because something is around doesn't make it
useful. Some "sources" of calcium not only don't stick around, they pull
away calcium and exit. Beverages that contain water, but also contain
diuretics, actually increase your need for water, not meet it.

Relax. You don't need a set of test tubes to learn what you need to
eat. Just a few simple rules. They fit on a business card. The time per
week it takes to build muscles is less is less than what you spend to
brush and floss your teeth."

"When my floundering between fit and fat reached a crisis point, I had
already been on every diet. Twice. Low carb, Weight Watchers,
Grapefruit, you name it. Weight control wasn't rocket science, it was
much worse. Everything in the way of food or exercise that was
supposed to be good for you felt bad, or boring, which is also a bad
feeling. You couldn't win with what was available. My moment of
enlightenment was when my doctor told me to "just eat less and move
more". This from an overweight health professional who believed, but
couldn't walk that talk. The energizing part was to see past me - this
wasn't just my problem.

Nobody was going to hand me a working plan. I had to come up with
my own. I analyzed my previous attempts, what sorta worked and
researched what was new. I pooled what's new, what worked, what was
safe, what lasted and what was worth the effort to the Premium Fuel
Format - unique yet universal - not like any other single plan, yet basic
enough to be useful to any body.
